Thermo Fisher expands microplate reader portfolio with Multiskan Ease launch

Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Thermo Scientific Multiskan Ease Absorbance Microplate Reader, a new system developed for laboratories carrying out routine absorbance based biological testing.

The instrument is designed to support applications including protein quantification, enzyme linked immunosorbent assays, cell viability testing, enzyme activity analysis, endotoxin testing and monitoring of microbial growth.

Thermo Fisher said the Multiskan Ease has been developed for laboratories that require dependable absorbance measurements without the complexity of broader multipurpose platforms. The system is intended to help academic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and quality control laboratories manage routine workflows while working within budget and staffing constraints.

According to the company, the reader combines a compact design with simplified operation to help laboratories generate consistent results while making shared instrumentation easier to use across different teams.

Trent Colville, Senior Director and General Manager of Protein Detection and Quantification at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said laboratories are increasingly seeking technologies that better fit their everyday workflow needs. He said the Multiskan Ease was designed to provide the performance needed for routine biological analysis while remaining straightforward to adopt and operate, with the aim of supporting overall laboratory productivity.
