Pfizer to showcase new cancer research spanning current standards of care and emerging pipeline breakthroughs at ESMO 2026

Findings across 45 abstracts will present fresh evidence for established treatments such as PADCEV and TALZENNA, alongside promising late-stage pipeline candidates including atirmociclib and tivunatamig

Pfizer Inc. will present data from 45 abstracts, spanning company-sponsored, investigator-led, and collaborative research, at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress, taking place October 23 through 27, 2026, in Madrid, Spain. Among these are 11 oral presentations covering both Pfizer’s established medicines and its late-stage pipeline across key disease areas, including breast cancer, genitourinary cancers, and lung cancer.

Jeff Legos, chief oncology officer at Pfizer, said the company’s oncology division remains focused on improving outcomes for people living with cancer, which means both raising current standards of care and pursuing the breakthroughs that will define oncology’s future. He said the data being presented at ESMO reflects that dual focus, reinforcing the evidence supporting medicines like PADCEV and TALZENNA while pushing forward promising investigational candidates such as atirmociclib and tivunatamig. He added that by building on the company’s position in breast, genitourinary, and lung cancers, Pfizer aims to deliver meaningful progress for patients now and in the years ahead.

Key highlights of Pfizer’s presence at ESMO 2026

Guiding the next wave of oncology innovation

Randomized Phase 2 results from the FOURLIGHT-1 study will examine atirmociclib, a highly selective CDK4 inhibitor, combined with fulvestrant in patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer who had previously received CDK4/6 inhibitor-based treatment. These findings lend further support to atirmociclib’s potential as a first-in-class cell cycle inhibitor backbone for this patient population and inform Pfizer’s broader strategy of testing the drug in earlier treatment lines. A Phase 3 study evaluating atirmociclib in frontline metastatic breast cancer is already underway, and an additional Phase 3 trial in early breast cancer is planned to test the drug alongside giredestrant, an investigational oral selective estrogen receptor degrader being developed by Roche.

Late-breaking overall survival and progression-free survival results from the Phase 3 SigVie-002 study will evaluate sigvotatug vedotin, an investigational antibody-drug conjugate targeting integrin β6, used as a standalone treatment in previously treated non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. These findings will add depth to topline results announced earlier and help guide the drug’s continued development in earlier treatment settings, including an ongoing Phase 3 trial combining sigvotatug vedotin with pembrolizumab as a first-line treatment for advanced NSCLC, alongside other novel combinations currently under evaluation.

Updated Phase 2 data will be presented on tivunatamig (PF-08634404, also known as PF’4404), a novel bispecific antibody targeting both PD-1 and VEGF, combined with chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for PD-L1-expressing NSCLC. Tivunatamig is being developed with the goal of becoming a best-in-class backbone therapy that unites two validated, complementary treatment pathways in a single drug across multiple tumor types, with pivotal studies already underway in first-line NSCLC, first-line metastatic colorectal cancer, and advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. Additional Phase 3 combination trials are planned, including one pairing tivunatamig with PADCEV® (enfortumab vedotin-ejfv) in metastatic urothelial cancer.

Expanding evidence across the portfolio

Updated exploratory analyses from the Phase 3 EV-302 trial will examine outcomes with PADCEV combined with pembrolizumab in previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma, including results among older patients, those with coexisting health conditions, and subgroups defined by disease-specific characteristics. These findings strengthen confidence in the combination as a foundational first-line treatment across clinically relevant patient populations.

Results from STARBOARD, a non-registrational Phase 3 trial, will evaluate an investigational triplet regimen combining BRAFTOVI® (encorafenib) and MEKTOVI® (binimetinib) with pembrolizumab (KEYTRUDA®) as a first-line treatment for BRAF V600-mutant advanced melanoma. These findings contribute meaningful evidence to a treatment landscape that continues to evolve.

Deepening understanding of treatment outcomes and patient experience

Patient-reported outcomes and a safety analysis from the Phase 3 TALAPRO-3 study will further support the use of TALZENNA® (talazoparib) combined with XTANDI® (enzalutamide) as a potential treatment for men with homologous recombination repair gene-altered metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer, also known as metastatic APMN/S prostate cancer. A supplemental New Drug Application for this combination in this setting is currently under Priority Review with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

An ad hoc analysis from the Phase 3 EV-303 trial, also known as KEYNOTE-905, along with circulating tumor DNA and health-related quality of life analyses from the Phase 3 EV-304 trial (KEYNOTE-B15), will provide important biological and patient-focused context to previously reported survival results. These analyses further support the use of perioperative PADCEV combined with pembrolizumab as a potential new standard of care in muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

ESMO presence reflects Pfizer Oncology’s broader strategy to advance care standards and deliver next-generation breakthroughs

With cancer remaining the second-leading cause of death worldwide, Pfizer says it remains focused on generating the evidence needed to bring treatment breakthroughs to as many patients as possible. The company’s data at ESMO reflects that strategy, concentrating research efforts on disease areas offering the greatest potential to improve outcomes globally. Highlights span emerging results from late-stage investigational programs, new analyses reinforcing established medicines as standards of care, and insights that deepen understanding of the patient experience to help inform clinical decision-making.
