AstraZeneca finalises $2 billion stake in Summit Therapeutics to speed up ivonescimab combination research
Posted on October 5, 2026
AstraZeneca has completed its $2 billion equity investment in Summit Therapeutics, with the funds earmarked to speed up development of ivonescimab, a first in class bispecific antibody that targets both PD-1 and VEGF. The drug will be tested alongside antibody drug conjugates across a range of tumour types.
The two companies have already signed a clinical collaboration to study sonesitatug vedotin (Sone-Ve) together with ivonescimab. They also plan to reach a further agreement that would launch a global development programme pairing ivonescimab with other AstraZeneca cancer medicines, including additional antibody drug conjugates.
Separately, AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo reached a clinical collaboration with Summit on Friday to evaluate Datroway (datopotamab deruxtecan) alongside ivonescimab in several tumour types, including lung and breast cancers.
