Abbott launches Ensure Max Protein 3-in-1 Muscle Support with protein, creatine and HMB

Abbott has launched Ensure Max Protein 3-in-1 Muscle Support, a new nutritional powder combining protein, creatine and HMB in a single daily serving.

The product is designed to support muscle health by combining three ingredients commonly used for muscle maintenance, recovery and strength.

Each serving provides 30 grams of high-quality protein, 5 grams of creatine monohydrate and 3 grams of calcium HMB, also known as beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate.

Abbott said the formulation is intended to simplify the use of multiple muscle-support products by combining them into one powder.

The company developed the product as interest in strength, healthy ageing and muscle maintenance continues to grow beyond traditional athletic populations.

Bridget Cassady, PhD, RDN, LD, a dietitian at Abbott, said consumers are increasingly viewing muscle health as part of maintaining an active lifestyle rather than solely as a fitness goal.

She said combining protein with creatine and HMB provides a more comprehensive approach to supporting muscle health.

The 30 grams of protein in each serving provides essential amino acids intended to support muscle tissue development when combined with resistance training.

Creatine monohydrate is included to support muscle strength, power and recovery during and after high-intensity exercise.

Abbott said creatine is naturally produced by the body and can also be obtained from foods including meat and fish.

The formula also contains 3 grams of calcium HMB.

HMB is derived from an amino acid and has been studied for its role in preserving muscle tissue by reducing protein breakdown.

Abbott said meaningful quantities of HMB can be difficult to obtain from diet alone, which supported its inclusion in the new formulation.

Ensure Max Protein 3-in-1 Muscle Support is available in chocolate and vanilla flavours.

The product is sold as a 28-ounce powder, with a suggested serving of two scoops mixed with 12 fluid ounces of liquid once daily.

It can also be added to foods including smoothies, yoghurt and oatmeal.

Abbott said the product is available through major U.S. retailers including Walmart and Amazon.

The formulation is also NSF Contents Certified, providing independent verification relating to product quality, purity and label accuracy.

The launch forms part of Abbott’s broader nutrition strategy focused on supporting both short-term physical performance and longer-term muscle health.
