A Successful Path Using Connectors and Fittings with Single-Use Technology

Working with 100s of Single-Use manufacturers on 1,000s of different assemblies we have noticed things that work well and want to share some of those tips with you. When selecting a supplier make sure their product line can seamlessly scale all the way from R&D to commercial phase. Your supplier should offer the same resin(s) across all drug development phases, supported by a consistent validation package. The barbs should be the same style working across the smallest to largest tubing ID. The basic design should be of similar geometry with changes made to accommodate scale and not function. Finally, the supplier should have a product portfolio that covers all your connector needs, allowing purchasing to deal with a select few suppliers.

All of this great technology should be supported by a strong quality management system and a supplier that is active with all the key industry trade associations. This will make your component selection easier and with less risk.
